The second annual symposium for research students in cultural policy and management. [ find out more ] |
The Department of Drama, Arts Management and Cultural Policy, Goldsmiths, University of London and the Department of Cultural Policy and Management, City University, have developed two areas of co-operation: one involving an annual research student symposium; the other, a national subject network. We believe that both initiatives will contribute to promoting and developing academia's relationship with the wider sector - including policy and funding agencies, cultural sector professionals and organisations, and associated agencies including skills councils.
The first meeting of the network took place on October 27 at Goldsmiths with over 70 delegates and expression of interest from 20 more. It was agreed that one of the first functions of the network would be to develop a website and a mailing list service - this has taken longer than we thought to get going but is now underway.
The initial network meeting and research symposia were funded by LCACE (http://lcace.org.uk/home.php) - however Goldsmiths and City Universities will jointly fund the first three year's administrative activities as the network moves onto a subscription basis - as recommended by delegates at the inaugural meeting.
It is hoped that the network will create an appropriate structure with an emphasis on being able to manage the dissemination of information, networking and a platform for consultation. Also one that develop the initiatives of the membership to create conferences and events - see Background page for more detail.
Website and a mailing list service
At the inaugural conference in 2006 there was considerable interest from academic institutions, cultural organisations and individuals in joining a network. We hope that this website and a mailing list service will be the first steps in developing this.
On the website we will create:
- A list of programmes both UG and PG dealing with Cultural Policy and Management across a range of sectors as a useful contact tool for students, staff and those in cultural organisations.
( how to send in your details will be posted in the next few weeks) - A list of members
- Links to useful agencies and organisations. ( this will be created after the first two are done)
Please go to the joining page on the menu for details on how to list your programmes and join the mailing list server
